Who we are
This website is operated by Meridas Gold Trading L.L.C. (Dubai) and Meridas Gold Refinery FZC (Sharjah, SAIF Zone), together referred to as "Meridas", "we" or "us". Both are UAE-incorporated entities, and this policy is written to UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data.
What we collect
This website is static and has no contact or account-opening forms — it does not collect or store any personal data itself. If you email or call us, or send us documents as part of the account-opening process described on the Open an account page, that correspondence is handled directly through our email and phone systems, not through this website.
Website analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and how they move through the site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions, and sends usage data to Google, which processes it on our behalf. IP addresses are not stored. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services for details. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
How we use your information
Information you send us directly by email or phone is used to respond to your enquiry, assess account-opening requests, and — for prospective counterparties — to carry out due diligence, including screening through World-Check and third-party due diligence providers, as described on the Open an account page.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share information with third-party due diligence and screening providers only where necessary to assess an account-opening request.
Where your information is processed
Some of the screening and due diligence providers we rely on operate outside the UAE, so assessing an account-opening request can involve transferring personal data abroad. Where we do that, we rely on the grounds permitted under the Protection of Personal Data Law — transfer to a jurisdiction recognised as offering adequate protection, or contractual safeguards binding the recipient to equivalent standards.
How long we keep it
As a dealer in precious metals, we are required by UAE anti-money-laundering law — Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 and Cabinet Decision No. 10 of 2019 — to retain customer due diligence records, transaction records and supporting identification for at least five years. That period runs from the end of the business relationship or the date of the transaction, whichever is later, and applies whether or not an account was ultimately opened. General correspondence that carries no compliance obligation is kept only as long as it is useful, then deleted.
Reporting obligations
We are obliged to report suspicious transactions to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit through the goAML system. Where we make such a report, the law prohibits us from telling the person concerned that we have done so. Nothing in this policy should be read as a commitment to disclose the existence of a report.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal data we hold about you, request a copy of it, have it corrected, ask for it to be deleted, object to how we are using it, or ask us to transfer it to you or another controller. Write to moc.dlogsadirem@ecnailpmoc and we will respond within 30 days.
Two limits are worth stating plainly rather than leaving you to discover them. We cannot delete records we are legally required to keep for the retention period described above, however the request is framed. And where a request touches material connected to a suspicious-transaction report, our response is constrained by the reporting obligations set out above.
